As a young child, I spent 10 days in a Texas hospital for a sudden illness, followed by three years of inconclusive tests. This experience with the healthcare system is what initially drove me to work in the industry. Early on in my career, I found a passion for problem solving and striving to make the system work better for the patients it serves. This passion still propels me today to seek out the best available solutions to healthcare issues at hand.

James brings more than 13 years of experience in healthcare as an operational leader and a trusted adviser on performance excellence and program management across multiple industry settings, particularly acute and ambulatory. As the industry increasingly calls for cost containment and high-quality care on both the administrative and clinical side, clients value James’s straightforward and collaborative approach that values and accounts for input from all members of an organization’s team, from C-suite leaders to those on the front lines of operations.

Prior to joining ECG, James was a system director in clinical and process excellence at Catholic Health Initiatives, the nation’s third-largest nonprofit health system. As a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, he provided consultation to operational executives on implementation of Lean management methods, which included project managing a performance excellence program’s design and deployment across 16 hospitals. As an administrative director at Harris Health System, James also led an initiative to reorganize a 375-FTE support services department across multiple settings, which resulted in more than $1.5 million in annualized operational savings and improved patient satisfaction through increased staff productivity, renegotiated supply contracts, and continuous improvement of delivery processes using data analytics and change management.
