Jonathan is a healthcare professional with an established track record of leading strategy and operations engagements with an academic medical center (AMC). He has worked with numerous stakeholders in a very large AMC – including executive leaders, front-line nursing and physician staff, administrative service line leaders, and ancillary support workers – and his clients value his expansive understanding of AMC operations and strategy.
Prior to joining ECG, Jonathan worked at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) in Toronto, Canada. As Corporate Project Manager, Jonathan was directly involved with managing and executing corporate-level strategy and operations projects. He implemented a hospital-wide discharge program, which unified the various service line discharge initiatives under one model of management, with a single governance structure and set of performance metrics. He was also heavily involved with an SHSC initiative to expedite the return of patients to their home hospital after receiving specialized, high-acuity care, having identified potential bed savings of nearly $1.25 million through a reduction in patient length of stay.
Jonathan has also worked on other cost-savings projects, including one in which he collaborated with SHSC’s medical imaging department and major clinical programs to save nearly $500,000 through various operational and strategic initiatives. Moreover, he assisted the hospital’s busy emergency department in crafting a business case to create a rapid assessment zone, which was implemented and resulted in increased turnover of low-acuity patients.
