Financial Optimization of Employed Oncology Practices

MRSMatt Sturm, Senior Manager, ECG

Since joining ECG in 2003, Matt assisted dozens of organizations with strategic and operational issues related to their oncology programs, including feasibility assessments for new modalities, financial planning, physician compensation planning, service line planning, joint venture development, physician practice acquisition, and the formation and expansion of clinical research programs. Matt has particular knowledge and expertise regarding the 340B Drug Pricing Program and radiation oncology. He is a regular speaker at the Association of Community Cancer Centers conferences and has written a number of articles on related subjects. In addition, Matt serves on the expert advisory panel for Oncology Issues, the journal of the Association of Community Cancer Centers and is co-author of the book “Oncology: Strategies for Superior Service Line Performance.” Matt holds a master of business administration degree from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and a bachelor of arts degree in biology from Baylor University.

MISMalita Scott, Manager, ECG

Malita has more than 15 years of healthcare experience and possesses extensive knowledge of oncology service line development and operations improvement. She has served as a project manager for the development of multidisciplinary cancer programs as well as the design and development of oncology programs in both community and academic settings. Malita has assisted community hospitals and medical group clients in evaluating and implementing the 340B Drug Pricing Program and determining optimal alignment structures in oncology specialties. She has also worked with pharmaceutical organizations to determine the operational and financial effects of cancer-related drug products on treatment processes, has led numerous operational improvement initiatives, and has evaluated clinical research programs for adherence to regulatory and financial guidelines. Malita holds a master of health services administration degree and graduate certificate of health policy from The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services and a bachelor of science degree in neurobiology and physiology from the University of Maryland.
