How to Hard-Wire Physician Leadership
Into Your Clinical Service Lines

Friday, May 16, 2008
10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. ET

Service line management approaches are being designed and implemented by hospitals and health systems to enhance the performance and positioning of key clinical services. The challenge that many organizations are facing, however, is how to build physician support for their service line management structures and develop alignment with their clinical services growth strategies.

This session in the ECG Trends Webinar Series will provide specific recommendations for engaging physicians in service line growth and development. Ways to build physician leadership into your service line management structure will be described, and best practice examples will be provided to help you:

  • Develop a service line management approach that matches the needs and capabilities of your organization and its physicians.
  • Effectively engage physicians in key service line development efforts.
  • Design meaningful service line leadership roles and responsibilities for physicians.
  • Build high-performing administrative and physician teams within your clinical services.

The featured presenters for this session are as follows:

  • Ms. Gita B. Budd, Principal, ECG

Ms. Budd leads projects focusing on strategic planning, business development, and physician alignment, and she has worked for a variety of healthcare organizations, including multiunit health systems, tertiary medical centers, community and rural hospitals, and managed care plans. • Mr. Jim Rice, Vice President, Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian

Mr. Rice is responsible for Hoag Orthopedic Services, a Center of Excellence, which currently includes the JointWorks and Institute for Spine service lines. Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, a 498-bed hospital located in Newport Beach, California, has a long history with service line planning and marketing but has recently reoriented its approach to service line management to build stronger linkages with its physicians.
