From Alignment to Integration – Using
IT to Maximize the Value of Hospital/Physician Relationships
Tuesday, June 16, 2009
While the degree of change and the details of healthcare
reform are unclear, healthcare information technology (HCIT)
is certain to be a key driver of improvements in our delivery
system. The future will require more integration of hospitals
and physicians, which enables providers to exchange both clinical
and business data to more effectively care for patients across
a continuum of service. Hospital leaders are utilizing HCIT
strategies to enhance existing alignment structures to drive
improvements in patient care quality, cost, and service.
Specific learning objectives:
This session in the ECG Trends Webinar Series will provide
specific recommendations for using HCIT to integrate the delivery
of care among physicians and hospitals as well as suggestions
for strengthening physician alignment and establishing a coordinated
delivery structure. Best practice examples will be provided
to help you:
Determine the appropriate hospital-physician alignment
structures.
Design HCIT strategies that leverage existing alignment
structures.
Understand how to access financial support from the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (i.e., economic stimulus
package).
Consider the strategic implications related to pursuing
integration.
