Selected Projects

Merging a community hospital with a large physician practice. Expand Minimize

ECG assisted in the planning efforts for the integration of a large multi-specialty physician practice with a community hospital. A key focus of this planning effort involved evaluating current staff roles and responsibilities and determining the best way to configure them after the merger transaction. The outcome of the analysis was a merger plan with a structure considered optimal by the merging entities.

Evaluating a hospital’s joint venture options with affiliated radiation oncologists. Expand Minimize

ECG identified and evaluated potential joint venture options for a hospital and a group of radiation oncologists, by modeling the financial impact of reimbursement, ownership, and referral pattern changes to the existing cancer center for each viable option. Once a preferred joint venture approach was identified, ECG built consensus for the JV option among the stakeholders.

Analyzing a community hospital’s management span-of-control. Expand Minimize

ECG analyzed the span of control for managers at a community hospital as part of a larger labor benchmarking analysis. Using the benchmarking data to inform our analysis, we worked with the client to redesign the organizational structure. As a result, the client was able to reduce unnecessary layers of management and ensure greater consistency in the number of direct reports to each management position.
