My work has purpose. Starting and developing new GME programs—along with carrying out performance improvement efforts that aid existing ones—is helping to cultivate the future of patient care delivery, at the physician level, for decades to come.

Don has more than 20 years of consulting and healthcare industry experience. He has adapted his experiences to best serve the strategic, operational, and process improvement needs of clients all along the graduate medical education (GME) spectrum. Don’s extensive knowledge in identifying and developing new GME candidates, combined with his leadership experience in improving existing program outcomes, has helped him sustain numerous long-term client relationships.

ECG clients value Don’s diverse experience with new and established GME programs from a firsthand perspective. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a vice president for Germane Solutions as part of its GME practice, where his work included new program feasibility/start-up, existing program assessment/affiliation, and strategic planning and operational improvements. During his tenure at Germane, Don performed more than 25 GME feasibility engagements, assisted in developing dozens of new programs from inception, helped 80-plus GME programs achieve ACGME accreditation, and identified cost savings and improvement opportunities for many different clients. Before Germane, Don held several administrator and director positions at Greenville Health System. In his collective roles there, he focused on fiscal and personnel oversight and improvement of the clinical, business, and academic operations of physician practices and hospital functions. In all, he was responsible for management and support of over 200 providers, 500 staff, and more than $500 million in contribution margin for the system.
