Gary is an accomplished physician network and integrated health system executive with 28 years of diverse strategic, operations, and financial leadership experience in large faculty practice organizations, community and academic medical centers, and a national faith-based health system. He has expertise in managing complex physician organizations, stakeholder relationships, practice acquisitions, and postmerger integration, and he leads transformative change for his clients via knowledge gained from a deep range of industry and management consulting environments.
Gary’s practice is focused on leading and implementing operational and financial transformation, and he has a breadth of experience with the leadership requirements of C-suite-level positions. Before joining ECG, Gary was vice president of physician network operations at Trinity Health, the second-largest Catholic health system in the US with 5,000 employed providers across 22 states. While there he developed and implemented a decentralized physician network operating model and a business plan for system-level physician network management. Most recently Gary was chief operating officer at 350-provider University of Toledo Physicians, where he led operational and financial transformation and daily operations for the university’s faculty practice that was undergoing a shift in medical center affiliation. This involved managing change in multiple service lines and all levels of faculty physicians.
Further, in addition to other executive roles he has held at University Pediatricians in Detroit and Drexel University College of Medicine, Gary served as director of physician services consulting at Huron Consulting Group. He is also a Certified Medical Practice Executive through ACMPE.
