Speech GME Disaster Planning - How Will We Respond if Federal Funding is Significantly Reduced? Following a 50% cut in The University of Minnesota Medical School’s education funding (which was restored in a subsequent fiscal year), numerous plans/proposals were proposed to cut Federal GME funding. The Medical School and its primary affiliated teaching hospitals decided to conduct our own “what if” exercise. This session will review the structure of the exercise, the findings, and what we are doing to prepare for any such reductions in State or Federal funding. We will also discuss how the Institute of Medicine report on graduate medical education has impacted our planning exercise.
