Conducting an EHR system selection process and implementation for a nonprofit Level III Trauma Center. Expand Minimize
Assisting in the planning and implementation of an EHR system for a nonprofit independent practice association. Expand Minimize
ECG assisted this client in planning for and implementing a new EHR for the client’s more than 170 physicians offering primary and specialty care services. Our assistance included providing a project management team of consultants to implement the system while coaching and mentoring the newly hired staff. We provided competitive analysis, offering pricing, marketing coaching, project management, and enterprise practice management (EPM) and EHR implementation assistance. As part of the EHR implementations in which we had a lead role, ECG observed and documented current work flows and designed recommended process changes to correspond with use of the new EHR system.
Performing an EHR due diligence analysis for a large, multispecialty group practice. Expand Minimize
We assisted our client, a multispecialty group practice with more than 85 physicians practicing in numerous clinical settings, by performing a due diligence assessment of two finalist vendors to determine any implications for the client of selecting an EHR from either corporation. The due diligence assessment included evaluating each vendor corporation’s commitment to healthcare IT and most notably the ambulatory sector, evaluating revenues over the past several years, and measuring liquidity, solvency, and other financial ratios. We also identified product-related information for further consideration which included strength of product line, client commitment, new sales, anticipated releases, and potential of product sunsetting. This information was presented in a report to the client’s Board of Directors to enable a final decision.
Assessing a public health organization’s EHR optimization and sustainability Expand Minimize
We assisted a public health organization, which utilizes a third-party application and support services provider, in evaluating its requirements for achieving optimal EHR system usage and sustainability. Our analysis included identifying the resources within the organization necessary to maintain and support the system, appropriate system usage to accomplish population management, and strategic use of document imaging (scanning) to facilitate the transition from paper charts. We also identified a list of enhancements for our client and a list of considerations to be discussed with the application and support services provider to ensure that the client’s more complex requirements would continue to be met. As a result of this engagement, our client’s leadership had a clearer understanding of the effort required of its organization to optimally use the EHR and action plans to both improve how the systems were being used and re-balance the relationship with the provider.
