Implementing Provider-Based Billing Clinics: Management & Funds Flow

Tuesday, July 17, 2012 | 10:00 am - 11:30 am PT

In addition to offering reimbursement advantages, a clinic’s designation as provider-based enables greater integration and care coordination between the hospital and physicians, allowing for higher-quality, seamless patient care. The operational disadvantages that can accompany provider-based arrangements are often the result of the poor design and implementation of ambulatory clinic management and funds flow structures. The implementation of provider-based status has a significant impact on existing financial performance and governance, which needs to be mitigated between the physicians and hospital. Successful provider-based arrangements must integrate not only finances but also governance, management, and operations.
