Achieving Meaningful Use: Ready? Set? STOP!
Wednesday, September 30, 2009
The pressure to implement and optimize electronic health
record (EHR) technology quickly to achieve stimulus funding
under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical
Health (HITECH) Act of the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act of 2009 (ARRA) is causing organizations to wonder whether
their Information Technology (IT) departments are up to the
task. Physician offices may seem to be simple organizations
to support from an IT perspective; however, limited resources
require that leadership and staff effectively balance the
needs of the organization with system support requirements
and provide expert project management, especially when implementing
EHRs. With increasing physician consolidation creating larger
ambulatory organizations and EHR technology’s inherent
requirements for organization-wide change management, many
organizations are asking, “Do I have the right IT staff,
and can they meet the needs of this organization as it changes?”
Specific learning objectives:
In this presentation we will discuss how to evaluate the
capabilities of an IT department and determine what skill
sets, attributes, methodologies, and processes need to be
in place to be successful, as well as how to then implement
a plan to ensure that meaningful use is accomplished. Upon
completion of the Webinar, you should know how to:
Recognize and evaluate the technical and operational gaps
of your organization’s environment with respect to
achieving meaningful use required for stimulus funding under
the HITECH Act/ARRA.
Determine how your IT department benchmarks against other
ambulatory organizations to establish the appropriate level
of staffing required to implement and optimize systems.
Understand how to coach the IT organization to adopt
the skills necessary to implement systems effectively.
