Pediatric Subspecialty Physician Compensation, Production & Benefits

Compensation and production benchmarks for pediatric subspecialties are often unavailable or are based on adjusting adult standards that are not reflective of pediatric practice. In addition, the shortage of pediatric subspecialists coupled with other market factors, including the economy and healthcare reform, has increased the difficulties that children’s hospitals and other pediatric organizations face in recruiting and retaining a talented physician workforce. As a result, ECG developed the National Pediatric Subspecialty Physician Compensation, Production, and Benefits Survey in order to provide compensation and production benchmarks for pediatric subspecialties.

Currently heading into its sixth year, the National Pediatric Subspecialty Physician Compensation, Production, and Benefits Survey provides participants with timely and reliable benchmarks for medical, surgical and hospital-based pediatric subspecialties, with sample sizes that meet or exceed sample sizes in other national industry surveys. ECG’s pediatric survey analyzes and reports information from nearly 3,600 pediatric subspecialist providers representing 42 subspecialties. The survey comprises critical data such as detailed pediatric compensation and production metrics and compensation-to-production ratios by subspecialty and region, including total compensation, gross professional charges, net professional collections, work and total RVUs (calculated at the CPT code level by ECG), and compensation per WRVU. Data is also reported on specialty-specific benefit expenses and malpractice premiums, recruiting efforts by specialty, patient access, midlevel provider utilization, work standards, and other operating statistics.

For additional information, if you have questions, or if you are interested in participating in the pediatric survey, please e-mail ecg.surveys@ecgmc.com or call 800-729-7635 and ask to speak with Angie Collins, Manager.
