- Planning the IT Department infrastructure for a large medical center.
We assisted a large medical center
in the assessment of its IT governance, management, organization, and operations.
From this assessment we developed alternative models for meeting the organization’s IT
needs and facilitated the evaluation of these alternatives and ultimately the selection
of the optimal model. We concluded this assignment by creating an implementation
plan and a budget.
- Developing an integration strategy for a faculty practice and its primary care clinics.
We assisted a large faculty practice organization
and its associated primary care network in developing a strategy for integrating the
practice management applications and supporting IT services of the two organizations.
The resulting plan allowed for the progressive use of information systems in the primary
care clinic operations, while maintaining the economies and efficiencies of central revenue
cycle management capabilities.
- Developing strategic IT initiatives for a children's hospital.
ECG evaluated a major children’s hospital’s progress
in implementing its strategic IT plan and defining strategic initiatives to
support current and anticipated clinical and administrative needs. The strategic plan
update identified and prioritized major systems initiatives and investments for the next
5 years. As part of this engagement, we assessed current IT staffing, technology bases,
and information management/integration. This project provided the children’s hospital
with a strong understanding of short- and long-term requirements and the level of commitment,
staffing, and funding required to achieve desired goals and objectives for the future.
- Managing development and implementation of a resident-tracking system across multiple institutions.
We assisted a school of medicine to develop requirements
for a new system that tracks the location of residents for reporting to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) for
graduate medical education reimbursement and invoicing institutions for the services provided.
The resulting system allows for data entry from decentralized locations across the school of
medicine via its intranet using a browser-based application with a SQL server database back end.
We conducted this engagement by managing the system development, testing, user training, and
implementation rollout.
- Establishing a long-term IT vision for a medical center.
ECG assisted a medical center in establishing
a long-term vision for its information systems. We reviewed the current information
systems environment and developed a model for the future vision, with an associated
transition plan. Through this process an IT plan was
developed that provided a framework for improving the medical center’s strategic and
operational use of information systems.
