ECG has conducted custom one-time surveys driven by industry
demand. These surveys are developed based on a need identified
by both healthcare clients as well as industry associations.
The
2008
Capitation and Risk Contracting Survey,
based on 2007 data, was conducted jointly by the American
Medical Group Association (AMGA) and ECG Management Consultants,
Inc. This survey is intended to provide medical groups with
a better understanding of the trends in the prevalence and
design of such contracts, as well as specifics regarding
the medical group experience with accepting risk. The survey
addresses the most common strategies and resources used
by medical groups in effectively managing risk contracts.
It also explores the experiences of medical groups administering
risk contracts with health plans. In addition, the survey
examines barriers and limitations related to risk contract
design and implementation from a medical group perspective.
The
2006 Pay-for-Performance
Survey, based on 2005 data, was conducted
jointly by the American Medical Group Association (AMGA)
and ECG Management Consultants, Inc. The notion of Pay-for-Performance
(P4P) has significant appeal – in an ideal world,
payment should be based on the quality of the care provided,
and employers, consumers, or health plans should pay for
waste or inefficiency. Many argue that healthcare should
be purchased just like any other commodity. Consumers expect
to pay more for the high-end product than the generic brand.
This survey explored P4P prevalence and perceptions, as
well as the characteristics of internal and external programs.
The survey, based on 81 responses from medical group leaders,
represented various groups, geographical locations, organization
sizes, and program structures.
The
Health System Governance
Structure and Practices Survey analyzes
and reports governance information from 11 health systems,
including 8 of the country's 40 largest health systems by
total revenue. The respondents represent more than 300 hospitals
and health facilities headquartered in eight different states.
The survey, a first of its kind, includes critical topic
areas such as governance philosophy, board structure, system/subsidiary
relationship, committees, and evaluation. This information,
coupled with ECG's interpretation of market trends, enables
survey participants to assess their governance and structure
relative to other major health systems. To learn more about
participating in our governance survey or to request additional
information, please contact us.
