Luke's experience spans a wide range of business areas related to the payer landscape, including alternative reimbursement methodologies, Medicare, and enterprise risk management. He is comfortable and enthusiastic about not only synthesizing large datasets into insights that produce considerable impacts for payers, providers, and hospitals, but also skillfully communicating these insights to his clients. Luke has a passion for making quality healthcare more affordable and brings that enthusiasm to every project he supports.
Before joining ECG, Luke was an actuarial analyst for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, where he completed rotations in the Medicare Advantage (MA) pricing, provider value-based care settlement, enterprise risk management, and senior product forecasting departments. Luke's MA project work focused on financial analytics that informed the strategy for the payer's MA Bid. To support this process, he helped develop an innovative tool that offered insight into profitability by membership segments, something previously unattainable within the organization. Luke regularly presented data and findings generated from this tool to Medicare leadership, which helped guide product and network sculpting decisions and supported a financial turnaround of tens of millions of dollars. Additionally, he owned financial models for the Blue Plan’s HMO, PPO, and MA value-based care arrangements.
