Offering patients access to the right care at the right time and in the right place is a goal that has long eluded hospitals and physician groups, as well as the healthcare system as a whole. In order to truly improve patient access, health systems and provider organizations must break down their existing frameworks for care delivery and adopt innovative strategies in redesigning how, when, and where care is provided. This article provides a new lens for looking at care delivery and proposes a range of strategies for expanding access to care.
