Hospital and Health System M&A Midyear Review

Research by ECG showed robust M&A market activity following record-breaking years in both 2017 and 2018. Our proprietary database of hospital and health system M&A activity saw 65 announced or closed transactions in the first half of 2019, compared to 46 and 85 in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Of note, smaller hospitals and health systems with less than $100 million of total operating revenue remain active targets of systems of scale with large capital positions as a manner of increasing the market relevance.

Our midyear review details the highlights from the first half of 2019.
