Peter is an internationally recognized healthcare leader with a focus on payer strategy. He has more than 20 years of experience in consulting to the healthcare industry, along with leading strategic marketing and business development for payers, provider systems, and healthcare vendors. The key focus of Peter’s consulting is in the intersection of payer and provider strategies, supporting the needs of clients as they develop operational and market capabilities to achieve corporate objectives. His goal is to ground strategy in market reality and provide a roadmap for rapid tactical deployment, taking an empirical, real-world approach to planning born from a strong background in competitive and market intelligence.
Prior to joining ECG, Peter successfully built and ran his own consulting firm for 16 years as managing partner and lead business development officer. Examples of his work include launching multiple market intelligence programs to determine the drivers of a regional health plan’s deteriorating operational performance in its core market segments. Peter determined the underlying causes and worked collaboratively with internal actuarial and product units to recalibrate their pricing and sales strategies, resulting in a successful and profitable relaunch of individual and small group products. He also led annual strategic planning efforts within three functional areas (i.e., network, medical management, and operations) of a major health plan over a multiyear span.
