Beginning January 1, 2015, CMS will launch the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CCJR) Model, the first mandatory bundled payment initiative. In response to this announcement, many hospital CFOs are concerned about the financial impact of the CCJR Model and the direction in which CMS is headed. This article highlights how – through collaboration with physicians, post-acute care providers, and others – hospitals can use bundled payments to reduce costs and improve quality.
