Speech Advancing Patient Access Through Leadership and Change Management

Advancing Patient Access Through Leadership and Change Management

Join ECG senior manager Stephen McMillen as he presents on advancing patient access through leadership and change management with copresenter Brian Bacak, MD, FAAFP, Associate Vice Chair for Clinical Af-fairs, Department of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Patients are becoming savvier about how they access care, and providers are heightening their focus to meet patient expectations. To avoid patient access initiatives being perceived as threats by physicians, organizations must implement strong leadership support and change management processes to be successful. This session will explore a case study of the University of Colorado Health’s contact center implementation and the role of the physician access leader as examples of how to structure leadership in support of a patient access initiative. The session will also demonstrate how this foundational structure builds a rapid response mechanism to the COVID-19 pandemic. Attendees will consider change management tactics based on organizational culture, along with communication strategies from other organizations to deter-mine how best leadership can support efforts to improve patient access.
